Pizza 4Ps – Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Who would have thought that I’d find stellar, wood-fired oven pizza in Saigon? Pizza 4Ps was started by a Japanese man who wanted to bring quality Japanese-Italian food to Vietnam. I know it sounds pretty convoluted, but the resulting items are definitely terrific.

I would highly recommend reserving a table in advance at any of their outlets. It gets pretty packed. I went to the one near Ben Thanh Market and it’s a lovely airy space with the entire second floor featuring an open kitchen and the wood-fired ovens.

My friend and I started our meal with a fresh Burrata with tropical fruit and parma ham, we opted for a mini version as we figured that we had a lot of food coming along. The Clam & Basil sauce spaghetti was also al dente and an interesting version of a pesto pasta.

UntitledWhile those two dishes were all well and good, we were waiting impatiently for the piece de resistance, the pizza. Pizza 4Ps also does a half and half pizza, so it’s great for people like me that want to try more flavours without ordering 2 whole pizzas!

We picked the signature Camembert & Ham Mushroom Sauce, and the Milano Salami & Chorizo Margherita. And t’was delicious.

The crust is wonderfully thin and slightly chewy, while the toppings did not disappoint. If anything Pizza 4Ps is a beautiful marriage of Japanese creativity and precision, and Italian basics.

10/10 will come back again.
