Fabulous Baker Boy – Singapore
My new favourite cafe haunt in SIN city is definitely Fabulous Baker Boy, post revamp. Now, with air conditioning.
For those of you who don’t know SIN City is major hot and humid. Air conditioning is a necessity. It’s a human right almost.
Anyway, this cafe is located opposite the night life area at the foothill of Fort Canning. And it has awesome cakes and excellent food.
I popped by with a couple of girlfriends and had a good old time. I had the Beef Guinness Pie, a pot pie covered with puff pastry which encased chunks of tender beef and potatoes within.
My companions had a Ju’s Prawn Pasta – tiger prawns in a cream sauce tossed with egg pappardelle and parmigiano – and the Chilli Crab Mac & Cheese with mini elbow macaroni.
The Mac and cheese came topped with breadcrumbs and a hefty amount of spice, but I liked the al dente texture of the mini macaroni. The former was equally rich with cream sauce and soft but not soggy pasta.
FBB knocks it out of the park for their cakes, but of course. They have flavours such as Apple Cider cake, Hummingbird cake, Red Velvet Cake, Blackforest Cake, I could go on and on.
I picked the Green Tea Praline cake and the Salted Caramel cake. Start with the green tea cake for a light start before moving into the heavy decadent salted caramel.
Every layer of sponge was moist and every level of icing had an oozing amount of salted caramel. HEAVEN!
