Pasar Bella – Singapore
There’s a new farmers market of sort in town. The Pasar Bella (Pasar is Malay for market and Bella is beautiful in Italian) is intended to be an equivalent to the artisanal villages and markets in Australia and the UK.
Of course, being in Singapore, it is indoors and air-conditioned. Hallelujah! Pasar Bella has a smorgasbord of tenants ranging from children’s goods and hairdressing services to kitchen utensils to food – both produce and ready made, as well as a fish market with an attached sushi bar.
Tenants such as Tangy Tangerines, Bonheur Patisserie, Dutch Colony Coffee, The Great Beer Experiment and Carrot Rabbit Gun are just a few of the establishments in the Pasar Bella. Organic wines and groceries can also be found at the Pasar Bella.
I tried the paella from Le Patio and some truffle pasta from 5Spice. A bit expensive but it tasted great. I badly wanted to try the chicken and leek pie from Aussie-run Carrot Rabbit Gun but, it was sold out 😦
Altogether, Pasar Bella is worth a visit but bear in mind the artisanal label also comes with an “artisanal” price. Until then…
Pasar Bella is located at 200 Turf Club Road, the Grandstand.
